How to Apply for the United States Citizenship?

U.S. legal permanent residents holding a Green Card are in general eligible to apply for the U.S. citizenship after living in the U.S. for certain amount of years. If the resident is married to a U.S. citizen then the waiting time is 3 years, but if the resident is not married to a U.S. citizen then the waiting time increases to 5 years. Some other requirements include physical presence, good moral and character and other U.S. citizenship application requirements. Some naturalization requirements may be waived for individuals currently serving in the United States military.

U.S. Naturalization Requirements:

Be at least 18 years old at the time of filing your Application for Naturalization
Continuous residence in the US during certain time.
physical presence in the US for certain amount of time.
Good moral character and character.
To take the United States Citizenship Test
Good knowledge of the English language.
Civic Knowledge
Have lived within the state or USCIS district with jurisdiction over your place of residence for at least 3 months prior to the date of filing Form N-400.
